Anime Boston '07 took place on Friday, April 20th to Sunday, April 22nd at the Hynes Convention Center (located in the Prudential Center) in Boston - some events were in the Sheraton Hotel, which was literally only a few yards away.
I attended with my friends from Maine, and (for the most part) we had a really great time. I cosplayed as Sakura Haruno from the anime series 'Naruto' on Friday & Sunday, and Namine from the video games 'Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories' and 'Kingdom Hearts II'.
Because of different issues during the con, I unfortunately didn't get to attend a lot of the panels & events that I originally wanted to... but it's okay, because I'm in the process of downloading some AB '07 video clips from YouTube. So far I have a couple parts of the 'Anime Dating Game' with Sora... I'd also like to have some from the Masquerade, and anything else I see on YouTube that may catch my interest.
On another note, I got a lot of photos of my group of friends, & others of some really good cosplayers.
I can't lie - some people's costumes were a little disappointing. I understand if people don't have lots of money for that 'perfect costume', but some of the ones that I saw looked like the cosplayers just didn't want to put forth the effort.
It's not necessarily how accurate the costume is - I guarantee you that most people aren't that finicky & nit-picky, as long as they can at least tell who the heck you're trying to cosplay as - so much as how much effort shows through in the costume. ...I probably shouldn't talk though, because I bought my Sakura costume, LOL.
But on the other hand, some of the costumes totally blew me away. Like an Edea ('Final Fantasy 8') cosplayer I saw - my jaw almost hit the floor. As far as I could tell, she looked exactly like the character. Amazing. There was also a Phoenix summon (also 'FF8') - another breathtaking costume.
There were a lot of costumes from the anime series 'Naruto', and a lot from the video game 'Kingdom Hearts II' (I saw several 'Kairi's that weekend). I wanted to try & get into or at least get a picture of everyone at the 'KH2' photo shoot gathering... but unfortunately, that was one of the events that I had had issues with & couldn't attend. Ah well, there's still Otakon to look forward to this July...
Overall - I thought AB '07 was a lot of fun, even if I didn't get to go to a lot of stuff. I got to hang out with my friends from Maine, who I'm lucky if I get to see at least once a year, and we had a blast together, so I can't wait until we can do it all again next year.
